AMS - Attendance Monitoring System Using Raspberry Pi
The Project
The Attendance Monitoring System (AMS) is a technology-based solution built using the Raspberry Pi 4, 16x2 Liquid Crystal display(LCD), RFID reader and RFID tags to identify and track students as they enter and exit the school premises. The system captures data on the attendance of students and stores this information on a secure database that can be accessed by authorized personnel via a web interface. The AMS provides real-time information about student attendance and can alert school authorities in real-time of potential security threats. The system is easy to use and integrates with existing attendance tracking systems. The AMS project is a great example of how technology can be used to solve real-world problems and improve the safety and academic progress of students.
Team Comments
We chose to make this project because...We wanted to address the problem of truancy and security in schools which has been a concern for educators and parents alike. Teenagers skipping school is not only detrimental to the academic progress of students but also exposes them to various risks, including kidnapping.
What we found difficult and how we worked it outDuring the process of building the circuitry for the AMS project, the problem we encountered was during the testing of the prototype with the written Python code. The card was not being read by the RFID reader and the LCD display was not showing any characters, which led the team to debug the code.
Next time, we would...We would like to include GPS and GSM to send notifications to parents about the child presence in school.
