Water Safety Alarm

The Project

This is a water safety alarm that uses an LCD screen to display the water level. It uses a buzzer and an LED to alert the user when the water level is over a certain limit. It is meant to be placed in potted plants to detect the water level and alert the person new to gardening so they don't overwater the plants.

While learning about planting seeds in the Agricultural unit in my Science class, I noticed one thing - people who are new to gardening overwater their plants, which can be fatal for their growth. An alarm to alert them about the water needs of the plant will be very helpful to them.

One thing that was a little tricky was the display on the LCD screen; the LCD screen's contrast really had to be adjusted precisely so that it was the most visible both from up-close and from a distance.

I would like to add a gas sensor as well to my project so it can be a general-purpose detector that can also detect the presence of harmful gases near the plant which can hinder their growth/development.
