Menory-Well
The Project
MemoryWell is an AI-supported mobile app designed to help people with Alzheimer's disease while also supporting caregivers and families. However, rather than creating a typical healthcare app focused only on reminders, medications, or symptom tracking, I wanted to approach memory care in a more personal and creative way. My goal was to transform memories into experiences and meaningful interactions. The idea for MemoryWell came from a personal place. As an international student living far away from my family, I started thinking a lot about memories and connections with the people we care about. I also became interested in Alzheimer's disease and how memory loss affects not only patients but entire families. I wanted to create something that could help preserve important moments and make memory care feel more engaging and human. MemoryWell includes features such as interactive memory puzzles using personal photos, a "Shining Moments" space to preserve meaningful memories, wellness tracking tools, and a Care Circle system to help families stay connected. The most difficult part of this project was that I started with no previous experience in Flutter, Firebase, or app development. I independently researched different programming languages and development tools to decide which would fit my idea best, then taught myself Dart and Flutter from scratch. Over about three months, I spent many hours learning, debugging, and solving problems independently. There were many moments when I felt stuck, but every challenge became part of the learning process. This project taught me that technology is not only about creating something functional. It can also help preserve relationships, memories, and human connection.
