The Project

This project is a flight carbon tracking application designed to help users understand and reduce the environmental impact of air travel. The app allows users to log flights by entering the flight number, origin, destination, date, and seat class, including economy, premium economy, business, and first class. Once a flight is added, the app calculates the total carbon emissions for that trip and displays the result in tons of CO₂. It also compares the user’s total emissions with the average emissions of a typical traveler, helping users better understand their environmental footprint. To make the data more meaningful, the app provides environmental equivalents, such as miles driven, months of electricity usage, number of trees needed to offset emissions, and food-related comparisons. Users can also view monthly and yearly reports, including the number of flights taken and a visual chart of emissions over time. In addition, the app offers eco-friendly travel tips and a feature that helps users find and book more environmentally responsible flights. It can also help you save money, too! The account section includes flight history, notifications, settings, and other personal information. Overall, this app aims to raise awareness about carbon emissions from flying and encourage users to make more sustainable travel choices.
