The Project

Hello, my name is Michelle, and I created a Safe Chef robot. It blinks red when there is a high concentration of gas, yellow when the level is moderate, and then green when everything is safe. What inspired me to build this was thinking about safety in everyday places where people cook, especially on the streets. In schools, we usually have drills and backup plans for emergencies, but people working on the streets often don’t have those systems in place. I felt like this robot could help improve safety in those environments. I designed the robot, called Sunny, to be placed in cooking areas, such as on the roof of a vending stand or anywhere nearby. While building the Safe Chef robot, I faced some challenges, especially with wiring. Sometimes I connected things incorrectly, which was frustrating when it didn’t work. However, I learned a lot in the process, including how to use libraries and other new concepts that helped me complete the project. So, that’s my inspiration and how my Safe Chef robot, Sunny, works.
