Put on a helmet！

The Project

When this helmet is put on, it unlocks in conjunction with the helmet. The helmet also has light and sound functions to encourage safe driving​ This helmet has a function that unlocks when the helmet is put on and makes a light or sound for safe driving. This helmet has three points. ①When you wear a helmet, the helmet glows coolly. It stands out in the dark and makes you safer.​ ②Wearing a helmet unlocks the bicycle and allows you to ride it. ​ ③A warning tone sounds if you drive too fast, so you can drive safely.​

More than 500 people are killed in bicycle accidents in Japan in a year.60% of these are due to head injuries.​ Wearing a helmet reduces the chance of death by 1/4.​ But the helmet-wearing rate in Japan is 11.2%. So I wanted to make something that would make everyone want to wear helmets.

The hard part was figuring out how to determine whether a person was wearing a helmet or not. I also worked hard to make the helmet comfortable to wear. I tried different spring sizes, lengths and strengths.

I would like to be able to unlock the lock when I am wearing a helmet and my smartphone is nearby. This would be convenient as I would then not have to open and close the bike lock. We also want to be able to charge the micro:bit with sunlight, as we don't want to run out of batteries for them.
