Bee Counter
The Project
We created a bee counter. The more bees that surrounds the hive means the hive is healthy. Using micro bits, microcontroller, and servos you can see how our prototype would work in nature.
Team Comments
We chose to make this project because...It would be impossible to feed our global population without honey bees. Bees support the growth of most plants. But unfortunately bees have been declining for years. Counting bees around a bee hive can help detect possible problems with hive and give us the opportunity to fix it.
What we found difficult and how we worked it outOur main problem has been making sure our sensor detects the the bees. We have made many bees with different materials. We finally decided clay bees work best for sensor detection.
Next time, we would...Create a better hive to work with our prototype. Our current hive has been very problematic.
