Mycelia
The Project
Mycelia is an infinite canvas for mindful productivity, designed to help teenagers shift their focus from rigid outcomes to personal growth. Unlike standard to-do lists that foster anxiety, Mycelia uses a spatial interface where users plant "seeds" of tasks, notes, and gratitude. It transforms the digital workspace into a living record of resilience, encouraging users to value the messy process of learning as much as the final grade. As a 14-year-old international school student in Japan, I realized I wasn't alone in struggling against academic perfectionism. Too often, we feel burnt out by productivity tools that measure our worth in checkboxes. Understanding that how we frame progress shapes our collective happiness, I wanted to build a safe space for students like myself. I wanted to create something that felt less like a spreadsheet and more like a sketchbook, incorporating my passion for art. I named it 'Mycelia' to remind us that, like hidden underground networks (concept of mycelium), our growth is always happening beneath the surface.
