Fishy Scrape
The Project
This is a work in progress. We wondered if we could make a robot that would clean fishtanks. There are tanks in homes, doctors surgeries, hotels and not everyone has time to clean them. We looked a car windscreen wiper for inspiration. We decided to wrap a pipecleaner around the paddlepop stick because we couldn't cut the wiper to shape. We had to build and rebuild because to start with it was very wobbly and wouldn't stay in place. We found that using lego gave it some sturdiness. We used an EV3 to run a motor. This is just a prototype because none of our invention is waterproof, and using a robot to run it makes it pretty expensive so people couldn't afford it.
Judge Feedback
Although this prototype has a lot of work left before it can be used in action, I was really impressed with the persistence in overcoming challenges this team showed. And as someone who once had a fishtank...I'd pay any price to never clean a fish tank again!
