Voice Command

The Project

Voice-Controlled Fish is a Scratch project that lets you control a character using voice commands instead of keyboard inputs. In this case, a fish sprite responds to directions like "up," "down," "left," and "right." Just say the command out loud, and the fish swims accordingly—making interaction fun, hands-free, and more accessible! We were inspired by voice assistants and smart devices that respond to spoken instructions. We wanted to explore how voice recognition can be used in games or educational tools to make them more interactive and engaging—especially for users who may find it easier to speak than to type or click. The most challenging part was making sure the voice commands were recognized clearly and consistently. We had to test different ways of speaking and ensure that the system understood variations in pronunciation. Connecting voice input to precise sprite movements in Scratch also took some creative problem-solving.
