Save The Cloth
The Project
Hello! My name is Dhruvi, and I study in Class 9 at MGGS Dhanmandi, Udaipur, India. I have created a project using the BBC microbit, a rain sensor, an OLED display, and an LED, called “Save the Cloth.” I was inspired to make this project during the rainy season. Many times, I would hang my clothes out to dry and not realize it had started raining—only to find them wet again! So, I decided to create a simple rain detection alarm to help avoid this problem. Here’s how it works: A rain sensor detects moisture. If the sensor reads a value greater than 500, it means rain is falling. The microbit then triggers an alarm, displays the rain value on the OLED screen, and turns on a red LED as a visual alert. This way, as soon as rain starts, I get an immediate audio and visual warning, giving me time to bring my clothes inside. The most difficult part of the project was calibrating the sensor properly and making sure the alarm didn’t go off from small splashes or humidity. I also enjoyed learning how to use the OLED display to show real-time sensor data. Thank you for visiting my project
