Walk With Me

The Project

Walk With Me is a mobile application designed to assist visually impaired individuals during traveling, empowering them with the confidence to travel independently. Many users face challenges such as identifying unfamiliar environments, organizing travel plans, and managing stress when traveling alone. The solution is the easy access technology tools of the app. The image identifier describes the surroundings through photos, AI-chat voice and the voice-input planner helps generate and manage itineraries. Additionally, the app integrates APIs that link to external websites for flights and hotel booking, and navigate users to the food places they selected, ensuring a seamless travel experience. I was inspired to create Walk With Me because I wanted to use technology to empower visually impaired individuals to travel with greater confidence and independence. During the development process, I encountered many technical challenges, especially when meeting some unexpected bugs. Sometimes these bugs were frustrating and difficult to solve, but each fix made me realize how much I learned. I used Flutter and Dart as the primary development framework. For navigation and routing, I built based on the open-source go_router package. I also appreciate the process of testing, iterating, and listening to user feedback. This experience made me realize how much effort I can put into something I deeply love, especially when I think about the people I want to help. This is more than just a project. Walk With Me allowed me to connect technology with empathy, which made the whole process so fulfilling.
