Euphony Echo

The Project

Euphony Echo is an app that combines virtual reality (VR) and real-time audio analysis to offer a safe, engaging platform for individuals to explore music, express emotions, and build confidence. By mimicking key elements of a live music therapy session, the app provides an immersive and interactive experience tailored to the needs of its users. The journey begins in a backstage VR environment, where users can explore, set preferences, and acclimate themselves to the virtual world. Once ready, users step onto a virtual stage where they can perform their chosen song in a judgment-free space. One of the most difficult aspects of the project was achieving accurate real-time audio analysis. The system needed to convert live microphone input and pre-recorded song audio into frequency data using FFT, then compare pitch patterns precisely. Background noise, varying mic sensitivity, and natural pitch fluctuations often caused inconsistent readings, making it challenging to maintain both accuracy and responsiveness. Fine-tuning the detection system to be forgiving enough for a supportive experience, yet sensitive enough to provide meaningful feedback, required extensive testing. Additionally, syncing pitch analysis with visual updates on the interface without lag demanded careful optimization to ensure a smooth and engaging user experience.
