Bird Water Feeder

The Project

About the Project: This project is designed to help birds stay hydrated during the hot summer months. It uses sensors to check the water level in a container kept on the roof. When the water gets low—either due to evaporation or because birds have drunk it—the system automatically refills the tub. This ensures birds always have access to clean water without depending on someone to refill it manually. Inspiration: One day at school during the summer, a bird collapsed in our playground. My teacher said the bird just needed water, just like we do. I gave it some water, and it recovered. After that, I placed a water tub on the roof for birds, but the water would evaporate quickly, and I had to keep refilling it. This made me think—what if it could refill automatically? Challenges Faced: The challenge was finding a way to detect low water levels and trigger a refill without human help. We had to understand how sensors work and how to connect them to a water pump. Making sure the system works even in strong sunlight and heat was also tricky.
