EdgeTrack
The Project
EdgeTrack is a skate analyzer that helps skaters analyze the movements of their skates on ice. EdgeTrack uses an accelerometer and gyroscope to record data based on the activity of the skate. Then using the app we created through Unity, we can upload the data and replay the skater's movements. In the skate sensor, there are four main components. The first is the QTPY ESP-32 Microcontroller, which controls the whole board. The second components are the sensors connected to the QTPY through the I2c protocol. The sensors are the accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer, which measure the acceleration forces (including gravity), sense the direction and speed (in degrees per second) of rotation, and point to the strongest magnet force (usually the magnetic North Pole), respectively. The third component is the SD card reader, which is connected to the QTPY using the SPI protocol, and it stores the data from the three sensors sent to it by the QTPY. Lastly, the battery controller and a rechargeable battery are connected to the QTPY that powers the whole device. Overall, this skate analyzer is meant to help current and aspiring figure skaters analyze their practices.
