Laser Pointer Toy for Cats

The Project

I created a project to entertain my cat without moving using a servo motor, laser pointer, and controller. Using the controller, you can control the servo motor for 180 degrees on both the x-axis and y-axis and point the laser pointer where the servo motor is facing to play with your cat.

I wanted to play with my cat using a laser pointer without needing for me to move around.

I found it difficult to connect and use the Xbox controller in my raspberry pi. To fix this problem, I used a Python library called ‘pygame’ which allows you to use the Xbox controller in Python and used the if statement to control the servo motor.

If I had more time, I would make the laser pointer move more precisely by using analog stick in my xbox controller. This allows you to control the laser pointer to point to the very specific direction.
