Blind Man Stick

The Project

When I was walking on the road yesterday, I saw a visually impaired person who wanted to cross the road. When the red signal turned on, someone told him to cross, but he accidentally walked towards the oncoming traffic. As he was walking, his heart started pounding, and he fell down. That incident reminded me of another time when I was going to the village by train, and there was a visually impaired person with me who had a similar experience. Nobody understood him, and he was anxious, and I wondered what we could do to help.

We chose to make this project because...

This will alert the visually impaired person and the person in front of them, so there is no risk of accidents.

What we found difficult and how we worked it out

We developed a technology called a distance sensor, three LEDs, and a buzzer that can be used by visually impaired people. We used Python programming for this project. Whenever any object comes near the stick, the three LEDs light up, and the buzzer sounds off.

Next time, we would...

The blind person doesn't need anyone else's help to navigate himself. He can use this stick anywhere.
