Recog
The Project
Recog is a cross-platform mobile application that allows for quick and convenient classroom attendance, automating the menial task with the press of a couple of buttons. This is designed to help teachers out by removing a menial everyday task from their workload. This app uses the Flutter development framework with an integrated AWS/Firebase backend, designed to keep the user experience as seamless and clean as possible.
Team Comments
I chose to make this project because...We often hear that public school teachers are facing incredible strain. Surveys found that a whopping 70% of teachers were seriously considering quitting their jobs. Thus, unburdening them by even the smallest degree would be incredibly important, and that was what I set out to do with this project.
What I found difficult and how I worked it outA technical challenge that I faced during development was the process by which the app parsed image data streams. Flutter, the programming framework that I used, yielded a specific format that was unusable for my recognition model.
Next time, I would...Much of my time was spent navigating messy code, and I believe that, if I were to do it again, I would be much more productive, and improve the app greatly, as I would keep it much more organized. My primary key learning is the importance of keeping things organized.
