The Project
In Turkey when there is a road work, a man stands next to it and tells the cars to pass or wait. One road lane has to be closed during a road work and if a car is closer than the other car in the opposite direction (lane), that road man allows the closer car to pass. I thought if there will be some kind of automatic robotic system right there to warn other people and drivers about the road work, the man might do something, more efficient job. And there won't be any accidents caused by human errors in signalling. In my project, the automatic robotic system will be placed in a road work area where one of the road lane is closed. When two cars are coming from the opposite directions, the green light will be turned on to the nearest car which is measured by the ultrasonic sensor. And red light will be turned on for the other car at the opposite side (which is not as close as the previous car). In my project, one arduino uno, 4 leds (two red, two green), jumpers, two ultrasonic sensors are used. I have used Tinkercad to test, design and MBlock to code. I would add one lcd screen where people can read when the road work has started, when it will end, which municipality is doing the road work etc. If I had more time, I would add two more lcd screens where it writes "pass" and "stop" according to the ultrasonic sensors' measures, because green and red are the most mixed colors for colorblind people. If I got more time I would also build it in real life.
