Forest Guard

The Project

My project “Forest Guard” is to create a device and place it in the forest to prevent wildfires from happening. Forest Guard is a device equipped with sensors to monitor and detect high temperature, flame, smoke, and unexpected movement in the forests. When a potential flame is detected, it will send an alert to the control center and notify the administrator and residences nearby via Telegram and VoIP call.

I watched the news about the Wildfires happening in the forest. It caused many animals to lose their home and life, forest destroyed, air polluted. So I want to create a device using the technology and knowledge that I learnt, to protect the forest and provide monitoring in 24 hours and 7 days.

1. The smoke and flame sensor were not working as expected. It sometimes kept ringing when it did not detect anything. I search in Google and adjust the sensor’s sensitivity. 2. As a beginner to self-learn drone coding. I have spent a long time to find tutorial and reference from google and youtube.

I would integrate drones with Forest Guard. When Forest Guard detected potential threats in the forest, drone will be activated automatically and fly over to capture the scene happening. . I will plan to integrate a GPS with FG, so the location of FG can be identified easily in the GPS map.
