Robo-Bin

The Project

First of all, I would like to apologise for my late registration as I faced electricity blackout and WiFi disconnection in Kabul . My teams project is about keeping the environment clean from pollution . We know that plastic and trash are one of the most common pollutants of our environment and we choose to make something that helps us in managing these pollutants. Robo-Bin is a sensible Trash Can that can operate without the need of touch . Suppose you walk alongside a pavement or a park and you have something in your hands to throw away . Now you don't usually go to a trash bin and open it with your hands or foot to throw in it . In your mind that's too much work but if its a Robo-Bin , it will open its lid when senses something near and intrigues you to throw trash in it .

Team Comments

Me and my team became aware of climate change and global warming which made us realise about our own environment. We made this project for Covid-19 mostly because the pandemic affected all of us in every part of the world . With Robo-Bin covid-19 could not spread fast as it involves no touch .

The funds for our project was hard to find ,and when we did there wasn't anyone that could go and buy the materials for us . We were the first robotic girls team in our school so we faced ridicule from lots of people. Only our physics and computer teacher was supportive of us .

If I had more time then , I would try to find different materials to use instead and I would work on its physical appearance to make it more professional. I would also try to add more options to it like an auto- disinfectant spray on the corner of the lid . Maybe a led light to signal it opens .
