EcoSnap

The Project

Our project is about creating an app that serves as an all-in-one toolkit for anyone hoping to help the environment. We believe that there are three main steps to ensure a positive impact on the environment: 1) Concern 2) Knowledge 3) Action EcoSnap provides users with accurate environmental news to help raise their awareness and that of others, uses a machine learning algorithm to display a list of ways that the object can be disposed without going to landfills, and also provides verified volunteering opportunities for anyone who wants to take action.

Team Comments

We chose to make this project after realizing how many people want to help the environment but don't know where to start. In addition, many organizations are doing important work but are not able to raise awareness about what they are doing. Tech has so much potential to help.

One issue that we faced was in designing the workflow of the app. To create a machine learning algorithm and to sort the options, we had to figure out how to build out our program and deliver the options in a way that was easy for a user to comprehend. We worked this out by planning and flowcharting

In the future, we hope to complete the version of the app, publish it, and get more feedback. We hope to gather feedback about the usability of the app's user interface and make any changes, so that we can publish more versions.
