Trum-Bit

The Project

The project works by having 3 valves(constructed by 3d printed tubes with tinfoil in them) as well as the microbit itself. Together with the help of a sheet to show the combinations, the user can press the valves in accordance with the notes and the microbit will play the sound.

We chose to make this project because...

We chose to make this project because we were inspired by our musical backgrounds. We were all interested in the concept of developing an instrument that could be played using a microbit. We wanted to take the physical part of making music with technology.

What we found difficult and how we worked it out

Some challenges we faced included trying to actually 3d print the main body. Because it was so big. In the first few attempts, it fell over. But eventually, we decided to add a base to make it stronger so it would not fall over.

Next time, we would...

If we had more time, we would have tried to cover up the wires that fall out of the bottom of the Trum-Bitâ„¢. As well as making more possible notes and scales. We Were only able to make a c major scale with no sharps or flats. We could have used another microbit to do this.
