The Project

The project intends to address a long-standing inconvenience in the logistics industry: the repetition of quote inquiries. Since employees have to make the same inquiry to different vendors, said process becomes redundant and repetitive. This application is developed and released on various platforms to increase efficiencies by automation. Users now can fill out the information once and submit it to many vendors with only one click. In addition, this program uses machine learning models and natural language processing to automatically process received emails from vendors to extract the most profitable quotation from a long list of quotations. In this way, the project accomplishes its mission - to reduce unnecessary workload and stress for employees due to some workflow.

Team Comments

My witness to my mom's daily workflow inspires me to create this application. When the pandemic hits, she has to work from home. Her remote working experience affords me more insights into her job as a logistics employee. To reduce her stress, I developed this program.

The most difficult part of my project is the machine learning model I developed to analyze emails. Human languages are so diverse that it would be challenging to find a specific pattern. However, I solve the problem by introducing multiple variants of the same model to accomodate major circumstance.

If I had more time, I would continue to add more features to the program. My project only optimize one part of my mom's workflow. Many areas remain untouched. I believe I can achieve more on this particular application for its mission is to continually optimize the workflow in this industry.
