Power Dodge
The Project
I have been fascinated with the idea of using our footsteps to generate electricity (footstep harvesting), that I think can really help the world by producing green energy and cutting down the use of polluting sources of electricity. I came up with the idea of this game to promote green energy through physical fitness, in a fun way. In the game, the player (in the digital avatar of 'Dodgy') dodges incoming objects by jumping on the vibrant piezoelectric tiles (special tiles that can convert kinetic energy into electricity) laid down in different real-life urban locations, which is a demonstration of the practical utility of this amazing technology. How The Game Works ● The game happens in an animated world with different real-world places like a park, an airport and a mall. ● The player has to dodge incoming objects by jumping on the vibrant piezoelectric tiles laid on the floor. ● With each successful dodge, the player’s supercharger battery gets powered up through the energy generated by each jump. ● Once the supercharger reaches 100%, the player can advance to the next level. ● The game has 3 levels with increasing difficulty. Sprites & Game Components ● Start Button - Takes You To Intro Screen, which has Concept, Rules and Controls ● Concept Button - Shows Concept ● Rules Button - Shows Rules ● Controls Button - Shows Controls ● Dodgy - Main Character ● Lightning 1 - Moves from Right to Left ● Lightning 2 - Moves from Right to Left

I chose to make this project because...I chose this project because it demonstrates the idea of footstep harvesting for generating green energy, in a way that is playful and engaging. I think my game can be an effective medium to communicate the idea of how each of us need to take the responsibility to create green energy.
What I found difficult and how I worked it outTranslating the idea of footstep harvesting into the format of a game was challenging. I had to come up with real life scenarios where it is possible to implement the idea of piezoelectric tiles. I zeroed down on a park, an airport and a shopping mall as the scenarios in my game, through ideation.
Next time, I would...I intend to add more levels, involving more rel-life scenarios where foot-step harvesting can be implemented. I would also like to include snippets of information about green energy and energy conservation, interspersed in the game.
