I chose to make this project because...My project is a great showcase of raycasting, a way to achieve 3d rendering, in scratch. This is special, because scratch is a 2D engine, and I have simulated a 3D environment! I also have included a W.I.P grid scanning-based pathfinding AI for Entities.
What I found difficult and how I worked it out1. There were warping issues and fisheye effects with the walls. This was solved using linear ray distribution and a lens correction script. 2.Understanding and implementing scratch lists was difficult but research made it work.
Next time, I would...1. Interactive entities like NPCs, enemies or collectables. 2. A way to lose and a combat system. This would come with weapons and abilities. It would pair well with interactive entities.
