Math Pug

The Project

This is an open-world exploration game with a twist - you need to solve maths problems in order to proceed through levels and defeat bosses! You play as a pug because we love dogs. Every time you play the game, it asks different maths problems. The final boss asks 3 multiplication questions and the other enemies ask addition problems. We've created an fun world to explore and solve problems in.

Team Comments

We chose to make this project because...

We chose to make this game to help kids learn more about maths. Lots of people thinks maths is boring so we wanted to make a way that it could be more interesting. Gamifying maths helps make it fun and the open world encourages players to explore and have a different experience each time they play.

What we found difficult and how we worked it out

By far the most difficult thing we found was adding the maths code. We were able to have sprites ask maths problems but it was the exact same problem every time we played the game. This became too boring and easy so we learned how to use variables and generate random numbers at every interaction.

Next time, we would...

If we had more time, we would like to add and expand the levels to make them more interesting and challenging. We would also add more enemies and bosses around the world which would mean more problems to solve. We would also like to add more story elements to the game.
