Raspberry Pi-Based, Low-Cost Contactless Vital Signs Monitor

The Project

My project is a low-cost, contactless vital signs monitor that detects skin temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and peripheral capillary oxygen saturation (SpO2). It can assist in preventing sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other health problems like sleep apnea. During triaging, it can reduce the exposure of the health-care providers or first responders during infectious and hazardous situations like the current COVID-19 outbreak because it is contact-free. The low-cost feature due to the Raspberry PI strengthens home health-care systems during self-quarantine and isolation without overwhelming hospitals while the continuous-monitoring capability helps detect health abnormalities like SIDS. Hence, my prototype can be used not only for symptomatic monitoring and triaging without risking the healthcare-providers but also for continuously monitoring the general health of the patient.
