Gesture Controlled Media Player
The Project
It is a gesture-controlled media player that detects hand gestures and then executes commands. It is able to recognize hand gestures for executing commands such as Play , pause, 10 s forward, 10 s backward, Volume UP, Volume DOWN.
Team Comments
I chose to make this project because...I started learning Python from last year and my elder brother, being a Robotics Engineer, helped me to get started with the Raspberry Pi and try out new projects. I wanted to use computer vision with Raspberry Pi to work on a cool project.
What I found difficult and how I worked it outI used OpenCV and Mediapipe for capturing the images and recogniition of the hand gestures. Finally I deployed the model on a Raspberry Pi 4 which can be used by anyone by just plugging it into a TV or monitor and to play media such as movies.
Next time, I would...I would like to improve this project further by adding more gestures for controlling more features.
