Recycle Checker

The Project

I designed an app named “Recycle Checker”. It is an app that arouses the app users’ awareness of environmental protection and evaluates how well they are doing with recycling. The function of my app includes measurement of how much recyclables the consumers buy through scanning their receipts and calculating how many commodities the user purchases are recyclable products. The higher the score is, the more recyclable active the user is. My app is published on Google Play and is proven effective from data collected from user feedback.

I chose this project because I have noticed that recycling has become a big problem in my community and in the country in general. I hope that my app can contribute to helping solve this problem.

I found it especially difficult to continue to change my plans while making this app. Many times throughout the development of this app, I had to change features to make the app work more like I intended it to be.

If I had time, I would like to improve the suggestion feature of my app. In addition, I would add more features to better suit each user's individuality to make the best plans for each user. I believe that an individualized app experience would best promote users to want to recycle.
