Learn Shapes

The Project

I got the idea of making this project when I noticed that many students know the names of shapes but find it difficult to identify them in things they see around them every day. So, I decided to make a quiz game on shapes using Scratch in a simple and interactive way. The game starts with the basic meaning of shapes and then explains four basic shapes — rectangle, circle, square, and triangle. I also used the “speak” command in Scratch so that students who are not very confident in reading can listen to the instructions and understand the content easily. I wanted every student to feel included while playing the game. After the explanation part, there is a quiz where students have to identify shapes from real-life objects. I added this because I wanted students to connect classroom learning with things they see in their surroundings. The most difficult part while creating this project was making it interactive and understandable for all students, no matter how much they already knew about shapes. I tried to keep the questions simple, relatable, and interesting so that learning feels more like a fun activity than a lesson.
