Through Their Eyes

The Project

Our project is a website that helps people understand how people with disabilities like dyslexia and color blindness experience the world. We created different simulations and activities that let users see and feel some of the challenges people with these disabilities face in everyday life. We chose this idea because we realized that many people do not fully understand these disabilities. Things that seem simple to most people, like reading text or matching colors, can actually be very difficult for others. We wanted to make a project that spreads awareness and helps people become more understanding and supportive. The website includes simulations for dyslexia and color blindness. For example, users can try reading moving or mixed-up text, or see how colors may look confusing to someone who is colorblind. The website is interactive so people can learn through experience instead of only reading information. One challenge was making the simulations realistic without making the website too confusing to use. Another challenge was learning how accessibility works in web design and coding. We solved these problems by doing research, testing different ideas, and improving our design step by step until it worked better. During this project, we learned more about coding, accessibility, teamwork, and how important inclusive design is. We also learned that even small changes in a website can make a big difference for someone else. In the future, we would like to add more simulations, improve the design, and include more disabilities and accessibility features.
