EcoChic: Smarter Fashion for a Sustainable Future

The Project

EcoChic is an AI-powered app designed to help reduce fast fashion waste by encouraging users to make more sustainable clothing choices. Inspired by the growing issue of overconsumption and textile waste, the app addresses how many people, especially teenagers, frequently purchase new clothing while underusing items they already own. EcoChic makes sustainability more practical and accessible by helping users better understand and maximize the clothing in their wardrobes. The app features a digital closet, an AI-powered EcoRating system that analyzes the sustainability of clothing items, StyleMate AI for personalized outfit recommendations, and a donation locator that helps users find nearby donation centers. One of the biggest challenges during development was integrating artificial intelligence and multiple APIs into a fully functional app without prior experience in AI integration. Extensive testing, prompt engineering, and troubleshooting were required to ensure reliable and responsible results. Early user testing showed increased awareness of overconsumption and encouraged more sustainable habits, demonstrating how technology can support meaningful environmental impact.
