The Project

In my country there is an ancient thousand-year-old tradition according to which people put on demon masks in the spring to scare away evil spirits. I wanted to tell about this tradition, Kukeri, because it is extremely interesting. That is why the bad characters in my game are inspired by the demon masks that I have seen on national holidays. It was difficult for me to draw exactly the same characters and in a way that they were not actually scary, but funny. I also managed to draw every element in my game myself, because I love drawing. I am proud that I did not need AI at all and I managed to convey the beauty of Bulgarian Kukeri masks myself. I was also inspired by our singer Dara, who won the Eurovision Song Contest. She was dressed in a Kukeri costume at the official presentation. With this project, I want to show how important is to respect your own cultural traditions and preserve our invaluable cultural heritage.
