EmotionSmart AI Learning Buddy: To Improve Student Learning & Wellbeing
The Project
EmotionSmart AI Learning Buddy is an intelligent classroom assistant created to help students feel more supported during learning. We were inspired by the fact that many students feel bored, confused, or frustrated in class, while teachers in large classrooms cannot always notice every student’s emotions. Our project uses AI facial emotion recognition to detect students’ feelings in real time and provide instant encouragement, guidance, or motivation based on their emotional state. The most difficult part was training the AI system to recognize different expressions accurately and linking each emotion to the most helpful learning response. After many tests and improvements, we developed a smart solution that makes learning more engaging, personal, and emotionally supportive.
