Voice Board: A Communication App for the Speech-Impaired
The Project
The Voice Board app, created with MIT App Inventor, helps non-verbal individuals or those with speech difficulties communicate using icons, buttons, and text-to-speech. Users can add custom phrases and images. Future improvements include multi-language support, cloud backup, voice recording, and caregiver monitoring tools for better accessibility and functionality. Problem: Many individuals with speech impairments face daily challenges in communicating their basic needs, especially in emergencies or social situations. Solution: An easy-to-use app with tap-based icons and text-to-speech that helps speech-impaired users communicate common and custom phrases effectively.
