Ai+D

The Project

During the pandemic, at first, I saw it as an opportunity to take a break from school and enjoy more time on my own without noise around me constantly outside. Later on, I realized that this pandemic would go on to affect not just me but also my peers, causing us to feel much more distant from each other compared to in the past. This is why I brought Ai+D to the Future Labs event, eager to present my innovation to my peers and younger audience for whom the app was designed for. After the pandemic I experienced an even worse isolation, where I was lonely even though I was surrounded by people; I realized that this was an aftereffect of COVID-19, as the prolonged quarantine dulled my interaction skills with people in my volunteering communities and classmates at school. At around the same time, ChatGPT was created, which inspired me to use its API to create an even more personalized chatbot that gives even more specific advice to its users. As I made my way to the stage filled with around four hundred people in the city of Irvine and Newport, I was prepared to pitch my project for my peers to download, give feedback, and suggest improvements for the app and what other features of technology could be used to benefit humans in the future. This simple presentation opened my eyes to two different effects technology has on humanity: it not only allows for humans to collaborate with artificial intelligence, but also pushes humans to collaborate with each other even more in the near future where technology will grow rampant. After this presentation, I would go on to publish a paper that demonstrates the key features and utilities of the app, including how they can counteract against the post COVID-19 effects.
