Blutorils Head Cosplay (Using ESP-32)
The Project
This project is a Wi-Fi-controlled expressive LED eye display using an ESP32 and two 8x8 LED matrices. It brings digital characters to life by allowing real-time emotional expressions—like happy, sad, angry, tired, and even confused—through animated eyes. The blinking is automatic, and users can control emotions and individual eye expressions via a built-in web interface hosted by the ESP32 itself. -Inspiration: The idea was inspired by animated robots and cosplay helmets that seem more lifelike with expressive digital eyes. By combining low-cost hardware with smart control, the goal was to build a character faceplate that feels interactive and full of personality—perfect for costumes, robots, or creative art pieces. -Challenges: 1)Making the animations smooth on limited 8x8 LED displays required careful pixel design. 2)Creating believable eye expressions with just 64 pixels per matrix took experimentation. 3)Adapting the LedControl-style display to work smoothly with the ESP32 was tricky due to library limitations. 4)Building a responsive web interface entirely hosted on the ESP32, while keeping the code light and fast, was a key technical hurdle. This project brings together embedded programming, creative design, and web tech—all in one friendly, expressive face.
