Drift Drive: The Game

The Project

Drift Drive is a retro-style drifting, racing game. The goal: collect coins across the map and then use them to purchase upgrades such as a speed boost and coin multipliers. Moving is very simple. Just use the arrow keys to traverse the map. I have used some basic formulas and trigonometry to calculate the change in location on X and Y using the direction of the vehicle. To make the game more engaging, I have introduced a bot car that moves around the track flawlessly. The project isn't fully completed just yet as I wanted to introduce a mobile-friendly mode and to allow for users to race online against others. Currently, I have a system set up where I can build custom maps on a tile-based grid and I would like to work on that. Hopefully creating a method that allows players to create custom tracks, play on them and share them through a code that would be encoded in the game and then decoded when someone would like to load the map. Tell us about your project. Why did you choose to make it? My project is a game called Drift Drive. It is about traveling around the track and collecting coins to purchase upgrades and more cars. I thought of this idea as I had been very interested in retro games so I wanted to make a racing-style game in a different style than most. Moving is quite simple, using the arrow keys you can accelerate and navigate. I used trigonometry in this project to change the X and Y variables of the car and to determine the direction it would move if it was pointing in a certain direction.
