The Secret Behind the Homepage

The Project

Our project is called The Secret Behind the Homepage. It is a short ARG (Alternate Reality Game) set in the early 2000s that tells the story of a teenage girl named Brittany, who learns about online safety the hard way when her school bully finds her blog. We chose to make this project because we wanted to experiment with making a website-based ARG while telling a story with a good moral(don’t share private information online), and we wanted to do it together because we are good friends and this is our first time entering a competition together, which we thought would be a fun and interesting opportunity. We also made sure to include lots of little details and references to real-world things to make our fictional world feel more alive and lived in. This is our first time ever creating a big project with HTML+CSS+JS, since we only started learning these languages in our coding club this year. We had some struggles with putting the project together, but we persisted, and with some help from programmer family members, previous (smaller) projects, and a LOT of googling and help from W3Schools, we both finished the project successfully and learned a lot from it.
