Broadcasting spells

The Project

We are two students in the A class of Junior High School in Greece, and we created the "Broadcasting Spells" project using Scratch. We followed a project from the Raspberry Pi Learning Paths, and we built it during our computer science class. In our game, the player uses magic spells to interact with different characters and objects. We learned how to use broadcast messages in Scratch so that the sprites can "talk" to each other and react to the player’s actions. We were inspired by the idea of combining storytelling and code — and we liked the magical theme! It was really fun to give each spell a different effect using Scratch blocks. The most challenging part was making sure the timing of the broadcasts was correct, so the characters would respond in the right order. We also had to think carefully about the logic behind each spell. We’re proud of learning something new and turning it into a working, creative project!
