The Project
This website (https://akshith227.github.io/unicorpus/index.html) addresses the problem statement "Develop a website for Teacher-Student management during online classes". It has a centralized timetable where students can access the meeting ID and passwords of upcoming classes(explained further in the video), along with an assignment distribution, submission and correction system, an inbuilt video conferencing system, a page for students and teachers to upload and view class recordings and summaries, a two-way communication portal between teachers and students, and a calendar event tracking service. - Tell us about your project. Why did you choose to make it? Our team of four was given 2 days to create a solution to address the problem statement "Develop a website for Teacher-Student management during online classes". This random problem statement was assigned to us and the project itself was organized and assigned by IEEE WIE PBL School Camp I attended in April of 2021. - What did you find difficult while making your project and how did you work it out? My main difficulty was finding new features to add to this Learning Management System, as there are already plenty of these applications available such as Google Classroom and Moodle. So, the process we followed to create a Unique Selling Point was to list all the features we have in normal, offline school, along with research into online learning systems to produce a final list of features to be added to the website. Then, online-specific features such as class recordings and virtual timetables were added too. - Is there anything you would do differently or you would add if you had more time? Firstly, I'd substitute this front-end solution with a fully functioning full stack application which can be scaled upwards for schools to use. I would also complete the inbuilt assignment submission and correction service in the website.
