UPI Shield – Protect Your PIN

The Project

This Scratch project shows how we can protect our digital money from being stolen. One day, my mother went to get ration. A person kept standing behind her again and again, and on the third time, he stole her phone and also used her UPI PIN because he had seen it earlier. To prevent this kind of fraud, I created a custom UPI keypad in Scratch: The number keys change position every 30 seconds, so no one can guess the pattern by watching. This makes it difficult for thieves to learn the PIN even if they look from behind. The project helps people understand why digital safety matters, and gives an idea for a safer UPI system. What inspired it? My mother became a victim of phone theft and digital fraud. It happened because someone saw her entering the UPI PIN multiple times. I felt bad and wanted to do something. That’s when I thought of making this Scratch project to raise awareness and suggest a smart solution. What was difficult? Making the number keys change positions every 30 seconds. Keeping the design clear and easy to use even after the change. Making the Scratch project show how unsafe regular keypads can be.
