WaterIT
The Project
WaterIT is an intelligent plant watering system that combines hardware automation with AI-powered insights to optimize water usage in agriculture and household gardening. Inspired by the alarming statistics of water wastage in agriculture (60%) and household wastewater (42% untreated), this project aims to make plant care more sustainable and efficient. The system uses an Arduino UNO to control a water pump based on real-time soil moisture data, while a Flask web application provides monitoring and AI-generated plant care recommendations. The most challenging aspects were integrating multiple components - from hardware sensors to AI APIs - and ensuring reliable real-time communication between the Arduino and web interface. Through this project, we hope to contribute to water conservation efforts while making plant care more accessible and data-driven.
