Pick-A-Flix

The Project

The project, Pick-A-Flix, is essentially a movie explorer website that utilizes various technologies and programming components to bring a dynamic user experience. The project takes input from the user via the front-end and uses said data as constraints to process into the back-end, which forms and executes the generated query, obtaining a result set via Python-MySQL connectivity from the database and then loading it dynamically onto the website via Flask, AJAX, and Jinja. Furthermore, clicking on any of the links from the generated results will redirect the user to the result's IMDb page. Credit to IMDb for database sourcing. (This project was purely made for skill enhancement and showcase. Usage is completely individual, personal, and non-commercial with no intent to distribute.) The project was co-created and made with the intent of utilizing DBMS and MySQL and showcasing our own creativity. A challenging part was handling the placement of the elements on the front-end webpage. We spent a good chunk of time trying to center the result table with respect to the page since its dynamic nature was troublesome.
