Using Coding to Address Acid Rain Effects on the Environment
The Project
I created an educational website for kids about how acid rain is damaging our environment. As a kid myself I thought of ways to make learning more fun like using colorful fonts, images, and games. I also try to avoid complex words and explain complicated terms, if these are the technical terms. Ultimately I tried to make something a little more fun while being educational.
Team Comments
I chose to make this project because...Acid rain is bad for the environment. Harmful gases mix with rain in our atmosphere and then fall back to the ground as rain but now it’s more acidic. Acid rain causes damage to buildings, plants, trees, animals, cars, and roads. Kids need to learn about this topic so that they can try to help.
What I found difficult and how I worked it outSince creating a website was new for me and I did not know how to code, I had to research this part. I started with Raspberry Pi Foundation because I had gone to an event where it was demonstrated. It had lots of project ideas and I learned how to code and to create a website using Trinket.
Next time, I would...I still need to create more content like simple text descriptions and visual images that are kid friendly. And then I need to link everything to the homepage in some way that is user friendly for kids.
