Plant Guru
The Project
Our project aims to simplify garden maintenance by developing an automatic watering system for home gardens. This system is designed to ensure plants receive the right amount of water at the right time, promoting healthy growth and conserving water. Key Components: Moisture Sensors: These sensors are placed in the soil to measure its moisture level. They send real-time data to the control unit, indicating whether the soil is too dry or sufficiently moist. Control Unit: The brain of the system, the control unit processes data from the moisture sensors. When it detects that the soil is too dry, it activates the water pump. Water Pump: This pump draws water from a reservoir or a connected water source and directs it to the plants. It turns on and off based on signals from the control unit. Irrigation System: A network of pipes or hoses connected to the water pump distributes water evenly across the garden. Drip irrigation or sprinkler heads can be used depending on the garden layout. Power Supply: The system can be powered by batteries, a solar panel, or a direct electrical connection, ensuring continuous operation. How It Works: Step 1: Install moisture sensors in the soil at various points in the garden. Step 2: Connect the sensors to the control unit, which is programmed to maintain optimal soil moisture levels. Step 3: When soil moisture drops below a certain threshold, the control unit activates the water pump. Step 4: The pump sends water through the irrigation system, ensuring even distribution to all plants. Step 5: Once the soil reaches the desired moisture level, the control unit turns off the pump, conserving water. Benefits: Efficiency: Automatically waters plants only when needed, reducing water waste. Convenience: Minimizes the effort required for garden maintenance. Consistency: Provides a consistent watering schedule, essential for plant health. Scalability: Can be adapted for different garden sizes and types. Website: We have created a dedicated website for our project, where users can learn more about the system, purchase components, and access installation guides and troubleshooting tips. The website also features a community forum for users to share their experiences and advice, making it a comprehensive resource for anyone interested in automating their garden watering. This ensures that all information is easily accessible and users can get the most out of their automatic watering system.
Team Comments
We chose to make this project because...We found out about the Indian culture of "Ayurveda" which is all about that curing patients using remedies, yoga and plants. When we got to know about this amazing term we started to learn more on it. Later we found curing patients from plants very fascinating and thought to contribute toward it.
What we found difficult and how we worked it outSetting up the water pump in the soil moisture sensor.
Next time, we would...We would like to be able to receive the orders from the website on our devices in real time... We would also like to make tie-ups with nurseries and be able to supply plants in real time and also make a few minor edits in the cart. Also we would like to try to add cures from yoga and yoga poses.
