The Funfair Ride
The Project
My project is called “The Funfair Ride”. I designed and created the model using Lego bricks. It was motorised and coded using “word blocks” of Lego Spike Essential. The ride is capable of spinning 4 passengers on a horizontal plane as well as displaying colourful patterns. My code for the spinning action allows it to accelerate, reverse and decelerate. And the colour display was programmed to not only look change colours but also shapes of the patterns.
Team Comments
I chose to make this project because...I personally love going on a spinning funfair ride and enjoyed seeing the dazzling lights on display. So far I have only learned to code Lego models using Spike.
What I found difficult and how I worked it outTime constraint: I effectively only had 5 days from scratch to finish for this project. But I would really love to take part and appreciate the experience and feedback. Solution: chose something simple but effective to work on. Use spare times efficiently. Persevere in process of trial &error.
Next time, I would...I would like to try to synchronise the speed of the motor with the rhythm of the music. In addition, to make the colour display more interesting and eye catching would be ideal. For future, I’d like to attend a regular code club/lego coding club to be able to build more complex models.
