The Project
PlantSight is a device in which the soil is irrigated automatically, saving water and human resources. This device is designed for farmers, with a focus on affordability and implementing smart farming techniques.
Team Comments
I chose to make this project because...I had a small garden in the back of my home. Sometimes the plants would die, and I found that the problem was due to improper irrigation. This is where the idea of "plantsight" begins. I did more research and found that the issue of improper irrigation affects about 20% of global farms overall.
What I found difficult and how I worked it outI had difficulty with proper voltage distribution, but I fixed it with a breadboard PSU. Other than this, the overall project is very easy.
Next time, I would...I would make it more affordable by reducing some components and making it lighter. Additionally, I would add benefits such as waterproofing the whole system, including a battery backup, and incorporating solar power.
