The Noise Monster
The Project
This project aims to help manage classroom noise levels. When you click the green flag, the project begins. If the noise level exceeds 50, a monster grows larger; if it falls below 5, it shrinks. A buzzer sounds once the monster reaches 208% of its original size. The values are set for our classroom but can be adjusted to suit different needs.
Team Comments
We chose to make this project because...We created this project to address the issue of classroom noise, which disrupts both teaching and learning. By providing a fun and visual way to monitor and control noise levels, we hope to improve the classroom environment and help students focus better.
What we found difficult and how we worked it outSetting noise sensitivity levels to reflect classroom conditions was challenging. We overcame this by experimenting with different thresholds and testing in the classroom to ensure the monster's size changes and buzzer activation corresponded accurately to real noise levels.
Next time, we would...If I had more time, I would add customizable settings for various classroom environments and integrate visual feedback, like color changes, to indicate noise levels.
